Flight Training Scholarships

Dreaming of becoming a pilot or getting an additional rating? EAA can help your aviation dreams become a reality.

EAA’s scholarships are supported by dozens of donors, benefactors, and others who “pass it forward” by endowing these programs. In all, EAA awards more than $1 million in aviation scholarship money via various programs each year.

All applications are reviewed against the criteria for the individual scholarships and then awarded to those who show the greatest potential to be actively engaged in aviation.

Flight training scholarships may be used to cover costs at any flight training school in the United States and Canada that is not a university program.

Post-Secondary Scholarships

Through many generous donors, EAA awards more than $75,000 in scholarships for students attending a post-secondary institution with a focus on aviation, including pilot training, aeronautics engineering, aviation management, airframe and powerplant (A&P) maintenance, and more.

All applications are reviewed against the criteria for the individual scholarships and then awarded to those who show the greatest potential to be actively engaged in aviation.

Post-secondary scholarships may be used to cover costs for collegiate level programs in the United States including but not limited to:  aerospace or aeronautical engineering, aviation business administration, air traffic control, aviation maintenance, professional flight, or any aviation-related STEM field.

Air Academy Camperships

EAA strives to provide camperships to help you explore the world of aviation at EAA Air Academy camps in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

All applications are reviewed against the criteria for the individual grants and then awarded to those who show the greatest potential to be actively engaged in aviation.

Fun and discovery combine for an experience that young people can find nowhere else at the EAA Air Academy, a series of weeklong camps designed to introduce young people ages 12-18 to the aviation world.

Campers are engaged through a variety of hands-on activities while staying at the EAA Air Academy Lodge in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.  Experienced aviation instructors help them delve into flight through studies, hands-on demonstrations, flight simulation, and other exciting activities.

Recognized by MSN Money as one of 10 summer camps "worth the money," Air Academy provides the foundation for a lifelong love of aviation.

Ray Aviation Scholarship

The Ray Foundation is furthering the legacy of James Ray, an EAA lifetime member who was dedicated to aviation and youth education.  The Ray Aviation Scholarship program provides scholarships up to $10,000 to young people who are seeking to learn to fly.  The Ray Foundation has provided $1.2 million to fund the scholarship program.

Sierra Chapter 403 plays a critical role in the success of the Ray Aviation Scholarship program by identifying local youth for the program and mentoring them through flight training.
